APELLC
example trailer construction:
New
– (never titled) 10 ton x 28’ x 102” wide trailer,
(20' on the flat & 8’ on the dovetail). Rollers
& other narrow equipment can be hauled on the
dovetail because of its low degree. The main frame
is made of 12” I-beam for extra strength with 3” full
structural channel cross members (not formed thin
metal). The cross members are on 16” centers (not
24”) insuring longer wood life and stronger load support.
The wood floor is bolted to the cross members (not
just held down by thin metal cross straps). The dovetail
is 8’ long for the gentlest loading degree of incline
available. The spring-loaded, fold-up ramps are wood-covered
& tapered to nothing on the end for easy, block-free
loading. These features makes the loading of pavers
and rollers very safe and easy with no damage to tracks,
tires, or rolls because with the low-degree, long
8’ dovetail (regular dovetails are 4’-5’ long) plus
the extra long 7’ fold-up ramps (regular ramps are
4’-5’ long). The result is a long ramp going to a
low 36” bed height. The ramp system is built to allow
the ramps to slide towards the center for easy loading
of narrow equipment or to slide out to the outer sides
for loading wider equipment. The two 10,000 lb axle
assemblies are equipped with electric brakes on both
axles and 235 X 85 R16 radial tires mounted on dual
truck style wheels with oil hubs. The brake system
is equipped with a D.O.T. approved safety break-a-way.
The lighting system is a fully sealed, rubber-mounted
system preventing shorts & corrosion problems.
The standard hitch is a 3” pintel eye. Dual 10,000
lb. heavy-duty, semi-truck style jacks with an adjustable
drop leg with sand pad foot. A chain and ratchet storage
area is provided in tongue with a steel grate bottom
for drainage. 3/8” safety chains with hooks are included.
The entire trailer is prepped and finished with a
3-coat (1 primer – 2 paint)finish system.
